Sorry guys, I missed Friday because I was out skiing. I can barely type because I am sore from head to toe! Well, I'll try my best. :)
Today I am going to tell you about the history of Valentine's day. It is both a combination of Christian and Roman traditions. There was a priest called Saint Valentine, and he was rumored to give the traditional marriage ceremony even though the King Claudious wanted to ban marriage so his soldiers could be more effective without caring for their families. Imagine that! Well, when Claudious learned what Valentine was doing, he was captured and later put in prison. It was said that Valentine had fallen in love with the jailor's daughter, and had written the "first valentine" and signing it, Your Valentine, before his death. While some people say we celebrate Valentine's Day in February to commemorate Valentine's death, others claim it is because the Christians tried to celebrate Valentine's Feast in order to "christianize" the pagal or Roman celebrations. Whatever it may be, we still celebrate it, and it has become a tradition to give your whole class, or a special someone a card of you appreciation! Thank you Saint Valentine.
